I took a break from thesis to do some tutorials and references for friends on FB :) All basic stuff, but I thought people might appreciate some of it here.

Anonymous asked: So could I have a tutorial on how you do line art like the brush you use and how you add the color to the end of your strokes sometimes??

fuzz-draws:

i use a marker for sketching and either a marker or brush with custom settings for lineart

and for the “color at the end of the strokes” thats made by using an overlay layer, generally thats either found in the mode (if you use paint tool sai) or properties of a layer

Drawing babies and smol childrens

shock777:

@ bearhow2 Requested a small tutorial on this, so here goes! ;v;’’’ I suck at drawing babies and kids tho lol im no expert but i’ll try what i know!

image

Babies and chibis are very similar, but their proportions are different. they have big eyes just like chibis, however their proportions are anatomically correct and also feature big ears. Because babies are still growing into their skulls, their noses are closer to their faces and their lips are a lot smaller with lack of teeth.

image

My babies are not necessarily realistic, but this is about how I draw them. For newborns, it’s a little bit more complicated. Their heads are incredibly big compared to their shoulders etc. Their features are a lot smaller than the babies shown so far. 3-5 year olds start thinning out:

image

another thing to note is the younger the child, the more stubby and dimply the hand is:

And…Idk babies are expressive. Dont forget to draw their little gums instead of teeth! And when they do start getting teeth, theyre often jagged and imperfect and have a few missing! Good luck to you ;v;’’’ I’m not the best teacher but i hope this helped some! :D

This helped a lot drawing anthros and furries.

I made this a while ago, and have refined the process since then but it’s still something I look back on. I really want to make comics in this style more often and have something color driven (as opposed to line).

Okay so I wanted to make this small thing just to demonstrate a really simple but neat tip for other people who are beginners to digital art, which is basically just selectively colouring your line art. The effect looks a little more interesting and helps bring out background colours!

I usually do this everywhere except on the hard outlines (the outside of the image and between two areas that are very contrasting) but doesn’t need to be exactly this way.

I’ve noticed most digital artists seem to do this, but I hadn’t really seen an explanation before. Though keep in mind you don’t have to always do it! Sometimes solid black (or solid something else) line art can look cool too, I’m very wary of tutorials that tell you that you have to do something a certain way every time.

But anyway… I thought it might be useful to post a side by side comparison like this in case it helps anyone to see it more clearly, since the difference is pretty subtle.

And remember: Don’t be afraid to experiment!╰(⸝⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝⸝)╯
